When Mippoo fits

You want a free app with a long history that you can narrow down by type and by the app you copied from, plus favorites that survive cleanup. The history stays on your Mac, and there’s no account.

Mippoo doesn’t paste for you: it puts the item back on the clipboard with all its formats, and you press ⌘V. There’s no sync, and it needs macOS 14 or later on an Apple Silicon Mac.

Spotlight

Already on your Mac if it runs macOS 26 Tahoe or later, so there’s nothing to install. It keeps clips for 7 days at most, which makes it handy for getting back something you copied today. How to open it.

Maccy

A small open-source app (MIT license) built around the keyboard: shortcut, type, Return. It can paste straight into the active app once you give it Accessibility access. A good fit if you work from the keyboard and want a minimal list.

Paste

A paid app with a timeline of cards, pinboards for things you reuse, and iCloud sync between Mac, iPhone and iPad. Pick it if you want your clipboard on every Apple device or need to share pinboards with a team.

Raycast

Here clipboard history is one command inside the Raycast launcher. It records text, images, files, links and colors, filters them by type and pastes an item on Return. The free plan keeps up to 3 months; 6 months, a year or unlimited history need Raycast Pro. Worth it if you already use Raycast.

Try Mippoo

Mippoo is free. Download it, copy a few things and press ⌥ Space.
