How Mippoo handles your clipboard history, and what happens when you open this site.

In short

  • Your clipboard history is stored on your Mac only. Mippoo never sends it anywhere and goes online only for updates.
  • The history is stored unencrypted.
  • Mippoo skips items marked as concealed, but it can’t recognize every password.
  • The app has no accounts, no analytics and no crash reporting.
  • The site stores browser preferences locally. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures technical traffic without tracking cookies. Yandex Metrica only runs after you click “Accept” and uses analytics cookies. Session Replay is off.
  • Support form messages are delivered via Web3Forms to the Mippoo mailbox.

What Mippoo saves

While the app is running, it saves new copies in supported formats: plain text, formatted text (RTF, RTFD, HTML), links, images, file references and PDF. Along with each item it saves:

  • the time of the copy;
  • the identifier of the app that was active at that moment (an approximation);
  • details for display: character and line counts, image size, file paths and names, a small thumbnail;
  • the Favorite mark, if you set it.

For a file, Mippoo saves a reference to it, not its contents. Your chosen history view and preview visibility are kept in the app’s settings.

What Mippoo doesn’t save

  • Whatever was on the clipboard before the app started.
  • Copies the source app marks as concealed, transient or auto-generated (the standard org.nspasteboard markers), and copies carrying the 1Password marker.
  • Copies from 1Password, Bitwarden and the Passwords app.
  • Empty text, text over 1 MB, items over 32 MB and unsupported formats.
  • A repeat of the same item right after it.

A password copied without a special marker — say, from a note or a web page — can end up in the history. You can delete that item by hand.

Where the history is stored

In Mippoo’s Application Support folder on your Mac: the SQLite database history.sqlite and the payloads folder with item contents. Access to these files is limited to your macOS user account.

  • The history is not encrypted. Anyone with access to your user account or your disk can read it.
  • Like other files in your home folder, the history is included in backups such as Time Machine.

How long it’s kept and how to delete it

The history holds up to 1,000 items and up to 256 MB of data. When a limit is reached, the oldest items are removed automatically; favorites stay. There’s no time limit.

  • Delete a single item from the context menu or the preview panel.
  • Delete the whole history with Clear All History…, keeping favorites or not.
  • A deleted item is removed from the database and its file from the disk. Mippoo doesn’t securely overwrite data.

Network and analytics

Mippoo goes online only for updates. Once a day, if automatic checks are on in Settings, or when you click Check for Updates, it downloads the list of versions from downloads.mippoo.app. If you choose to install a new version, the installer comes from the same place, and Mippoo verifies its digital signature before installing it.

These requests contain no clipboard history, favorites, settings or list of apps. The server sees what any website sees: your IP address, your system language and the Mippoo version in the User-Agent header. Mippoo doesn’t send details about your Mac (model, processor or macOS version).

Mippoo has no sync, no accounts, no analytics and no crash reports. The Open in Browser, Open File and Show in Finder buttons hand a link or a file to another app only when you click them.

The mippoo.app website

  • The site has no ads. Once enabled in Cloudflare Pages, Cloudflare Web Analytics gathers technical page-view and performance statistics without tracking cookies.
  • Only after you explicitly click “Accept”, Yandex Metrica (counter 113729156) loads and uses analytics cookies to report visits and interactions to Yandex. The counter is set to avoid storing full IP addresses, and Session Replay is disabled.
  • Your appearance, site language, download platform and Yandex Metrica consent choice are stored in the browser (localStorage). No Yandex Metrica requests are made before you accept; merely browsing the site does not grant consent.
  • The support form sends the name (if supplied), email, topic and message to Web3Forms, which delivers it to [email protected] in Lark Mail so we can reply. Data is only submitted when you send the form.
  • The default language and platform come from your browser settings; the site doesn’t look up your location by IP address.
  • The demo on the home page reacts only to text copied from the page itself. It never reads your clipboard and sends nothing.
  • The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, Cloudflare processes technical request data, such as your IP address, to deliver and protect the site.
  • The app file may be hosted elsewhere; that host processes request data the same way when you download it.
